Salt March - 12th March 1930 The Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, Dandi March and the Dandi Satyagraha, was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India led by Mahatma Gandhi.

Salt MarchThe price of salt had been increased by British government in India when the British rule was going on. When the price increased up to 26% Gandhi said to British government, the nature is giving us the salt without any cost but why you are increasing its cost. Britishers said what! 26% is nothing nothing, now its cost is going to increase up to 2600%. Gandhi surprised and went to Pandit jaba har lal Nehru and others and said the British government increased the price of salt by which we can not buy but we can make salt ourselves. Gandhi decided to lead Dandi March and prepared for it. He said to all the people, I need only 79 volunteers. Among all some of the people got ready to lead Dandi March. They all volunteers were being interviewed by Gandhi. Gandhi said, if we lead Dandi March the Britains will beat us badly on the way. It is not sure that we will come back home or not. But 79 volunteers were ready to get hurt and die and left for the 390 km journey in Dandi March. While on the way they all were being beaten by Britains so badly but what happened after sometime a lot of people would join around 50,000 people in Dandi march and said beat us, beat us. They didn't back out of their way that kept going upto 24 days in Dandi March. And it was event about 24 days.
